Can't Stop, Won't Stop

The mail train is still chuggin' smoothly, if only I had more and more time to do it.

Here's a few things I've sent through IUOMA (http://iuoma-network.ning.com/) recently:

Mini, mini postcards.
Only the address can fit on the back, so I've adhered some inspiring messages to the front.

Mail on the mind

Photobucket

And that's about it.
I'm frothing at the mouth to make little Christmas mail packages to send out.

Mind you, true to Lindsay form, they likely won't arrive in time, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Balmain Spring 2011 RTW-Pants made in Lindsay heaven

Balmain knows it's way into my pants heart.
Tight and shiny and kind of rocker in a "me-in-2005" way.

What I wouldn't do to have any of these bottoms on my bottom.

A Flickr delight

Eyries is my favourite flickr contact to cyber stalk, or at least just keep up with all the things she posts on the website.
She makes beautiful, raggedy little collages, and she takes photos too, but her assemblages are what really get me going.
She uses lots of old neutral pages with bursts of colour. Right up my alley.

Catherine Baba-This woman is tha man.

Freelance stylist, she has creatively directed a shoot in all of your most inspiring magazines, and she oozes creativity.

All of your styling reflects her own personal style, which has to be the most glamorous and casual (all at the same time), that I have ever seen. UGHHHH To even glimpse into this woman's closet would be an absolute dream.

First Correspondance from the Letter Writer's Alliance!

Photobucket

Short sweet, straight to the point, as all first correspondances should be.
I'm pleased that I'll be trading with an older man (who is a master decorative painter, no less) as it's different from the people I usually mail with.

I can't wait to get home and type out a response!

Latest Obsession:

Project Runway.

I'm not always a huge tv fanatic, but when I find something I like, I REALLY like it.

For example, Season 8 of Project Runway.
My obvious favourite, right from the beinning was Mondo. I love his weird outfits and how he cried because he didn't have any friends. I loved his weird colour combos and brain splitting pattern combinations.

I always make sure to do my homework on the internet and found that all of the runway collections and the Lincoln Center for Fashion Week have been leaked, and the top ten contestants showed collections, so no one knew who was in the top three of the television show (since fashion week was before the airing of the tv show...make sense?).

Here are some peaks at my fav collections, from April and Mondo!

Mondo Guerra, what can I say, I would pretty much love to own all of this shit.
Super fun, young, totally wearable for most girls. Kinda street.

And, la piece du resistance, My FAVE EVER!
Polka dot maxi dress with accentuated shoulders! Swooon

And then April shocked everyone with the most beautiful and soft (but still hard) colour palette of creams and greys, and I think she did it perfectly, disagreeing with every other review on the internet, but as Joy on the View would say: So what, who cares? I even really like those weird bandage headwraps, I think they're quirky.

Do you guys have any faves?

Wish I Was Here!

Photobucket

I just got a lovely new group of old photos from my favourite antique (junk) shop. It was filled with gems, and I got a great deal, as always.

I'm preparing for my big apartment move, happening over the next two weeks, by writing letters to people and revisiting letters written to me by people. I'm hoping to make a new zine exploring all of the wonderful and weird mail I've gotten during my (mostly) active mailing career.

Photobucket

I've been taking photos and organizing and arranging some of my favourite pieces, but I feel their lacking something. I'd like the photos to be a little bit more special, or different. I'm thinking of working in props of some sort....I have so many collections of goodies, and I'd like them to be apart of the composition as well.

What do y'all think? Suggestions? Please?!

A Day At The Fair!

A surprise found Jenner and Chloe and I one day when we went to Value Village.
Not only did I have the best shopping trip ever, with hot scores like a pair of leather witchy boots, and a faux leapord print fur jacket, THE FAIR WAS IN TOWN!!

Photobucket

And the magic continued into the next evening when I attended a potluck at Sandras house, who taught my Tactile Notebook and the Written Word class. The students from both former classes attended. Great conversation was had throughout the whole night and it was great to see all my classmates whom I had not seen all summer. Check out this inspiring table setting!

It was on this day that I officially realized:
Autumn is here.

Old Snail Mail Survey ANSWERED

Remember this, Robyn?

From a few years ago. How long ago, I can't be positive. I'm guessing six years ago. I detest my last answer, but you can't change the past.

I found it tonight while going through boxes and boxes of saved mail from over the years. I'm preparing for the Allan Street Reading Series where I'll be doing a mini show and tell of mail I've received. Should be fun, I'm really looking forward to it.

You should check this out:

A recent trip to the antique store finds....

A christmas miracle...Orphaned beers find a good home

A birthday party with a missing birthday boy....

Photobucket

Went out for a coworkers brithday on Saturday night...
The pre-drink at Jenners was hilarious filled with car talk and living room dance-outs with her roomates friends.

The bar seemed awkward at first. Not our scene, and I saw my coworker once. With his shirt off, which made me decide to approach him later with my mix cd gift.

I did not see him later or any time after that, but the rest of the night was filled with rhinestoned bras (my own), blood on the dancefloor and secret sneaks outside for top secret things with Natasha and Elviro from my local coffee shop.

Made my way home, after a party drop by, where these photos were taken. Along the way, I talked to Todd on the phone and whispered (aka spoke obnoxiously loud as I stumbled home in heels) sweet nothings about loving him forever.

I may or may not have had to sleep with an empty waste basket beside my bed.

What I did last night:

Went on a date with Jenner.
Lovely.
I loved this movie, she hated it.
I thought it was pretty, and great to listen to.
Has anyone else seen it?

I'm not really the type to....

Keep up on fashion trends, even though I love the idea of fashion and everything it encompasses.

However, THIS week, I've been really into it. It all started when I waitched a video of Tavi Gevinson (aka Style Rookie- thestylerookie.com) giving a talk on SASSY MAGAZINE (!!!)

One thing led to another, led to another, and now here I am saving photo after photo of catwalk shows to my computer.
I thought I could share it. so let me show you what I like.

Rodarte!!!

fashion

My friend and co-worker Chris summed it up pretty perfectly on my facebook wall, referring to the new collection: "Ok so got home and had to watch again for a second time, after ur excitement of course --- proportions amazing, textiles amazing, combinations amazing; fits and shapes oh my; oh my, oh my, oh my .....so good : rodarte u make me headache with inspiration lol"
To which I replied, "I KNOW, RIGHT!!!!"

Alice and Olivia!!!

fashion

I'm not going to pretend to understand it, but Alice and Olivia manage to pile on so many embellishments and glitz, yet all of the outfits are still SO wearable. The combo just doesn't compute for me, but I'm still into it. Kinda boho, kinda dorky. Some outfits were a bit too nostalgia, 70's for my liking, but you can't win 'em all, can ya.

Marchesa!!!

fashion

WOAH WOAH WOAH. Totally over the top. Lace, beading, luxurious layer after layer. Lordy, lordy. The intensity of this collection was mindblowing. I want ALL of these outfits. Highwaisted lace harem drop crotch pants?!?! I couldn't come up with anything so perfect in my wildest dreams!! It's got this expensive gothy feel to it, and it reminds me of the way I want to feel right now.

Already dreaming about next summer

The days feel frigid to me, even though it's only September.
I can only imagine how stiff and crotchity I'll feel in four months time.

I miss my notebook.

I'm missing everything that came along with Tactile Notebook & The Written Word.
Sandra (the instructor), the notebook (Still at school? Hopefully...), the sense of community (Weekly craft nights were a promise I made myself but never followed through), and of course, the ladies.

Lost and Found!

Found a few little gems kicking around on my computer tonight and I thought I would throw them on here.

I know I have been severely neglecting my blog, and I have been thinking about it constantly for the past couple of weeks. Time to get this lil guy revived, what do you say. I think it will be a great resource to look back at all the things I have been creating at any given point in time, and I always love to receive feedback from strangers or non-strangers.

So here are two, from when I lived in Tofino, British Columbia, a couple years ago. It seems like just yesterday and I miss the west coast of Canada so much. I miss living in a really small town as well. It was something I had never experienced, and have never experienced since then.
