Long Gone

These mail bits went into the post about 3 months ago. I was housesitting a beautiful one bedroom apartment in the best neighbourhood in Halifax. A cat lived there who was easy to please and it was a nice three weeks in that home. I was able to get a lot of mailing done. It was just one of those places with good vibes seeping out the floorboards.

Here's what the mail bits looked like:

Received in the Post

All of these RECEIVED MAIL posts should soon be warranting a SENT MAIL post.

Soon, I assure you, soon. But I've been busy working on my small business Varity Concert and I need to make some money before I can buy some stamps!! In the meantime, here's some visual delights I've gotten in the past couple of weeks:

A great short story in a beautiful envelope from Michael. I love a good read.

Cool stuff in a cool ziploc in a cool envelope from Karen Champlin

Fun times goodies from Shirley on sendsomething.net. She says that business is real slow over there, wouldn't it be nice to throw a dog a bone and send her something in the mail?

And a fine-ass, packed-to-the-brim, oddly shaped envelope from Valentine Mark Herman in beautiful France. Filled with exactly what it says: Mail art miscellant. Delights like business cards, stamps and plastic bits. The possibilities are endless.

Received Mail from Stephanie Blake

OH YES!

This is some of my most favourite mail that I've gotten recently. I love the collage style, I love the images chosen, I love those sad looking people and I love that little flap stapled to one side.

Well done, Stephanie, super stoked that this one got my name on it! Thank you!

RECENTLY RECEIVED: MAILART BEAUTS

Mail has been flowing a-plenty these days and I couldn't be happier.
Here's a few that I've documented:

A lovely little letter wrapped up in a sweet envelope from Jen Staggs. Tucked inside were some pretty sweet old school style faux tattoos. Jen probably doesn't know this, but applying fake tattoos are my friend's and I's perfect pre-party thing to do. I wonder if Jen knows I have a big ol' unicorn tattoo on my *ahem* "chest"? That horny tattoo is really speaking to me...

This layered and sturdy little postcard comes from Jon Foster:

And last but certainly not least, one from Diane Keys. A recent fave that sits close to home, as I sent her a package of paper goods a few months back which she has utilized in a few new pieces! Check out the post on her blog here!

2012: The Year I Dissapointed Mail Art

I admit. 2012 was a sad year for personal import and export of mail. I've been busy.

To make up for this fact, I'm preparing about 40-50 pieces of mail to send out in a lump sum at the end of the year. They range from postcards to packages.

Don't believe me? Here's proof:

One for Valentine!

Something For You?

Nothing pleases me more than a Sunday crafternoon.

Currently detoxing after a weekend of non-stop dancing, secret rooftop-spot parties, sweaty sweaty hugs, and three 6 AM bedtimes in a row. I feel young and happy. Also-tired.

Amidst the chaos, some work got accomplished. My good friend Steph encouraged these things out of me this weekend!

More, More and More Received Mail!

Photobucket

From Madge in Spokane. I love her evolving style and I'm into just about everything she makes. You can see some more things on her beauty of a blog: http://canimailthis.wordpress.com/

From Miss Lavender. I suspect this woman is a school teacher because her handwriting is impeccable.

Recently Received Mail

Photobucket

From my gurl J. Walker who moved to the big city, away from me. I miss her everyday. She was my right hand man for a few good solid months. She'll never know how much she helped me through. True to form, this arrived yesterday on the worst day.
Check out her blog, she's got some cool stuff over there: http://raptortexasranger.tumblr.com/

Photobucket

From Karen! I don't know if you can tell from this scan, but that red paint is so luscious it still looks wet. It isn't though, I know because I touched it and also because, well, that's impossible.

Photobucket

And oldie but a beauty from Dewi! Interestingly enough, this character looks a heck of a lot like my BFF...could it be?

Photobucket

From Jarrah on sendsomething.net, one of my favourite internet haunts. Wishing I had those stickers. Notice the subtle suggestion in the left hand corner. Thanks Jarrah, I'm trying!

Christmas Eve Mail Send Off!

Sent off a big ol' bag of mail on Christmas Eve, which I've been receiving word that some of it has already arrived at their destinations! Woop.

Here's just some of what I sent:

Christmas Cards!
Christmas cards! Better late than never, right?

Off to Malta!
Off to Andre in Malta, it's a long way to go, so hopefully it gets there safely....I made the envelope using a beautifully illustrated map of Shakespeare's Great Britain.

Many Packages...
A few packages to a few people. My favourite envelope was Cassie's, which reads: "Today I had a great breakfast....ON THE MOON!" And on the back it reads: "The blonde one was called Freedom"
The top one is for Alison who is the creator of City Mail, a locally run FREE mail delivery system in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where I live. Great idea, greta ambition. I'm totally in love with the idea.

Mail for friends!
Giorgia gets runner-up for my personal favourite envelope. Her address is smack dab in the middle of on open palm of a hand. Kelly's package features a bichon frise and Sarah in Montreal is getting a foamcore postcard, which was originally a photo decorating a fitting room of my old work, American Apparel.

Two Envelopes
A package for a Letter Writer's Alliance buddy I met on flickr, and one for an etsy customer!

Packages for IUOMA Members
And finally, three zines being sent off to International Union of Mail Artists members!

It's been busy, but believe it or not, I have even more to post.....soon...soon....
